About Paul Burger B.Sc.(hons)

Hello and welcome to the website.
My name is Paul Burger and I specialise in personal development coaching and business consulting. The bulk of my work relates to confidence building and decision making, usually working with individuals and small groups. I also work with people who wish to eliminate problems, stress or fears.
I'm a Master Practitioner of NLP (licensed with The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and an Associate Facilitator of the MythoSelf Process.
My scientific and technical background is a world away from my current personal development coaching work. So how did I get here?
How I got from electronic engineering to personal development
With a degree in Physics and Electronics under my belt I set out as an electronic engineer and spent 16 years working in electronic system development and encryption, designing hardware and writing the embedded software it contained.
Such is the nature of electronic development projects that they'd evolve over time and new requirements were often needed to improve or extend the overall system. Typically the software would be modified or upgraded to include new features.
As time moved on the software would become increasingly more complex to try and force the hardware to perform operations that it was not constructed to do. Ultimately the whole system would become so inefficient that it was impractical to modify it any further, so I'd design the next version of the hardware. And the beauty of this was that this more efficient system would run on simpler software - leaving space and resources for future improvements.
It was a steady career, but I knew I wanted something 'more'. Despite this, I struggled to take the decision to move forwards.
I've always been fascinated with how people behave, so in parallel with my career, a casual interest in hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) gradually developed into something stronger. I started to attend training programs run by well-respected trainers such as Joseph Riggio, John La Valle and Paul McKenna - to whom I all owe a debt of gratitude.
The more I studied NLP, the more I saw it as the human analogy to those software changes I'd make in electronic systems. Changing the way we think or approach a situation was in someway similar to how I'd modify or even rewrite the software that controls electronic hardware. Great things were certainly possible, but ultimately the hardware would still limit the potential.
Then I discovered the MythoSelf Process (also known as the Mythogenic Self Process)
I have Charles Moore to thank for introducing me to the MythoSelf Process. Experiencing a process where a facilitator works with people at a physiological level led to a magical realisation that the 'hardware' of the human system could be altered so that a person's full potential could be released.
Since then I've studied and attended many training programmes on my way to becoming an Associate Facilitator of the MythoSelf Process and participated in other training programmes associated with this work. As well as training with Dr. Joseph Riggio, Architect and Designer of the MythoSelf Process, I'm still studying under Joseph on a regular and ongoing basis to further enhance and deepen my skills. I'm also subject to additional mentoring with Dr. David McDermott, Master Trainer of the MythoSelf Process, and am in regular contact with other trainers and facilitators in this field.
Armed with the self confidence to make the right decision, I finally left my career in electronic engineering. I like to think that I'm still involved in engineering in another way - now I help others engineer their lives so they can live them the way they want. I'm so proud to be able to help free them from the chains of their past and to release their full potential so they can realise what's possible for them - just as I did.
All the best
Paul
